AKELA Construction is a leading Civil Engineering contractor with offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Derby. Founded in 2003, AKELA operates across Scotland and England spanning the Energy, Residential and Civil Engineering sectors. Focussing on self delivery we have over 250 employees and a wide range of plant to deliver all your project needs. We are an innovative Civil Engineering contractor built on our value of self delivery and recognised through industry awards and accreditations. With a passion and drive for Net Zero, we can produce modular offsite solutions such as our bespoke A-BEAM product. We have a real focus on health, safety and environment, and all the communities where we work.

With the opening of our Edinburgh and Derby offices in 2024, we have embedded new performance protocols as part of our new strategy, supported by data harvested from localism, sustainability and supply chain delivery.
As part of our strategic growth, we are pursuing a sustained pipeline growth going forward, having secured places on various new procurement routes, including the Scottish Government’s Pan-Scotland Civil Engineering Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS).
As part of the AKELA Group, we have the resources and capabilities to offer our customers a “one stop shop” to deliver comprehensive enabling, infrastructure and residential solutions across all our sectors.
Through our in-house design teams and precast factory, we can deliver innovative and bespoke solutions to reduce the carbon footprint and aid our journey to Net Zero. The Modern Methods of Construction adopted ensure offsite manufacture, factory conditions construction, waste and resource reduction, just in time delivery with quicker install onsite, higher levels of quality and reduced embodied carbon throughout.

Our business ethos is that we self-deliver wherever possible and we only use subcontractors for specialist activities. This gives us greater control of health, safety and environmental practices, programme, training and quality.
